Volunteer Requirement

Volunteer Requirement

All members are expected to fulfill a volunteer requirement over the course of the CSA season. Failure to do so will impact future participation in the CSA. Members have several options to fulfill their volunteer requirement.

We ask that you check back soon to visit our Volunteer Spot page to sign up to contribute one evening of your time to support our CSA community.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Distribution & Tenant Farmer's Market (7 pm to 8 pm): The Prince George orders additional shares to help provide fresh vegetables to the tenants in our building. During this shift, CSA members will help tenants shop for vegetables, answer questions about produce, and sell vegetables. At the end of each CSA, any leftover vegetables are donated to City Harvest, a nonprofit that provides produce to food insecure populations. CSA members will help bag unused vegetables, breakdown tables and put away CSA supplies.

Donation to Subsidize Low-Income Shares: If you are unable to commit to time required for working a shift or contributing to the newsletter, you are also welcome to make a monetary donation to help subsidize a share for the low-income and previously homeless tenants of the Prince George.

Recipes & Articles for our CSA Newsletter: Our Weekly CSA Newsletter is in need of contributions from our CSA members!  We welcome and appreciate any recipes and articles you wish to share. Two articles (centered around food justice, CSAs, personal food experiences, etc.) can be used to fulfill one volunteer shift, or four neatly presented recipes to do the same including pictures.  Please email all articles and recipes to our current CSA Newsletter editor, Tenant Services Assistant Noah Peck at npeck@breakingground.org
